Alan Gilbey’s Animation Writing Workout

Back for a tenth year at the Bradford Animation Festival (BAF), join award winning screen writer, script editor and show runner Alan for an extra in-depth version of his always popular session on creating better stories and TV shows.

In this all day workshop (with lunch break*) you’ll stretch and strengthen your mental muscles through a series of writing exercises that will help you make leaner, meaner leaner films and create the great new shows of the future.

In part one you’ll look at why we tell stories and what makes a good and a bad one. You’ll develop new ideas in a friendly and supportive writers room atmosphere, and even learn to pitch.

In part two you’ll look at the development of commercial projects through real case histories, and have a go at creating your own.

Alan has run workshop for Cbeebies, Hit Entertainment, the National Film School, The Childrens Media Conference and many others, so this is a great chance to really engage with all the joys, pains of challenges of writing animation and learn a lot of stuff along the way.
